GRAPE HARVEST
Before the wine, there is the work.
A grape harvest is not simply a rural landscape or a collection of grapes. It is a physically demanding process involving people, machinery, timing and generations of agricultural knowledge.
Working on the ground in rural Spain, I document the harvest from inside the process, photographing the people who do the work, the movement of the crop from vine to vehicle, the machinery and the details that reveal the reality of a working vineyard.
My knowledge of Spain, fluent Spanish and English, and ability to work naturally around people allow me to photograph agricultural communities without imposing on the work. I look for the human moments within the process, from the concentration and physical effort of individual workers to the cooperation required to bring the harvest in.
My documentary-led approach combines people-at-work photography, environmental portraiture, process, detail and landscape, adapting to changing conditions and available light to create images that feel authentic to the place and the work.
The result is photography that can communicate the story behind wine, vineyards, agricultural businesses and rural destinations, connecting the landscape and finished product with the people and work that make them possible.
