TATTOOS
Identity written on skin.
Tattoos are personal, but they also become part of how a person presents themselves to the world. This portrait series explores identity, character and attitude through the people who wear their stories on their skin.
Working closely with the subjects, I combine environmental portraiture, controlled lighting, composition and direction to create images that reveal more than the tattoos themselves. The location, clothing, gestures and expressions become part of the portrait, helping to communicate something about the person behind the image.
My approach is collaborative. I work with people to find the right combination of character, environment, light and attitude, allowing the portrait to feel purposeful without becoming overly staged.
The result is a series of portraits with a strong editorial and visual identity, demonstrating my ability to create distinctive people-centred imagery for artists, brands, publications, lifestyle projects and campaigns.
