Where music becomes part of community life.

Music is not only about performance. It is also about the teachers, the students and the communities that keep it alive.

This project looks beyond the finished performance to document the relationships, personalities and everyday work that surround music, from teachers and students to the shared enthusiasm that brings people together.

Working closely with people allows me to photograph both the activity and the quieter moments around it, using environmental portraiture, documentary observation and performance photography to build a story that feels personal rather than simply recording an event.

My approach is to look for the moments that reveal character: the concentration of a student, the interaction between teacher and pupil, the preparation before a performance and the sense of shared purpose that develops around a common interest.

The result is a visual story about people, learning, culture and community, suitable for cultural organisations, educational institutions, publications, tourism initiatives and organisations wanting to show the people behind what they do.
