AMUS: BIRD RELEASE
When conservation work becomes a moment the public can see and participate in.
A bird release is more than the moment an animal takes flight. It is the culmination of specialist care, rehabilitation, expertise and commitment, and an opportunity to show the people and organisation behind the work.
I have worked with AMUS on a number of conservation projects and events, building a relationship of trust that allows me to work within the organisation and document its work from the inside.
For these releases, I photographed the birds, the conservation team, the preparation and the people witnessing the return to the wild, capturing both the decisive moments and the quieter interactions that give the event its human dimension.
Working around wildlife and people at the same time requires patience, observation, anticipation and discretion. My documentary approach allows me to respond to what is happening naturally while remaining alert to the moments that communicate the story most clearly.
The result is more than a record of a release. It is a visual story about conservation in action, showing the expertise, care and people behind the work and helping an organisation communicate its purpose to a wider audience.
