FLAMENCO
More than a performance. A culture, an identity and a way of life.
Flamenco is often photographed through the spectacle of the performance. I look beyond that to photograph the people, emotion, character and cultural identity behind it, from the intensity of the dancer and musician to the quieter moments that reveal the person beyond the stage.
My knowledge of Spain, fluent Spanish and English, and ability to build relationships naturally allow me to work comfortably around performers and within cultural environments. That access helps me photograph people from the inside of their world, rather than simply observing the performance from the outside.
Working with available light, stage lighting and controlled lighting where appropriate, I combine documentary observation, environmental portraiture and performance photography to create images with atmosphere, movement, story and character.
The result is photography that can tell a cultural story while also serving tourism organisations, cultural institutions, agencies, publications, brands and events, showing not only what Flamenco looks like, but something of what it feels like to be part of it.
