REFORESTATION
A community working to restore its own landscape.
Pulmón Verde is a local reforestation association working with the community to restore and protect the landscape around it. I was there to document the people, work and collective effort behind that activity.
The story is not simply about planting trees. It is about people taking responsibility for the place where they live, bringing together families, volunteers and members of the local community to turn environmental action into something practical and visible.
My knowledge of the local community and ability to build relationships allow me to work naturally within these environments, documenting people as they participate rather than simply photographing the finished landscape. That access lets me capture the work, interaction, personalities and sense of community that give an event its meaning.
My documentary-led approach combines people-at-work photography, environmental portraiture, landscape and event coverage, looking for the moments that explain not only what is happening, but why people are involved.
The result is photography that can document community organisations, environmental initiatives and local events while giving agencies, organisations and publications a visual story that connects people with the place they are working to protect.
